when the sun shone on my pained eyes i came for you. the path was long and i was tired, but the swaying trees pushed my heavy skeleton forward to your heart. i reached an opening, and above me the dark canopy began to disentangle, and flickrs of light streamed through the virescent veil, playing with the shadows, dancing around me. dried leaves circled my legs, and the wind pushed me onward. the wind whispered to me, and i heaved toward you. through clay and darkness and dreams and silence i came for you. your charcoal eyes widened when my bony arms reached for your tender face, and sweet honey filled me. and i know the air is bitter and the soulless trees still stand, but the sun is glimmering onto our pale faces and i'm here with you.
