candy

being australian and having grown up in this lovely place, i feel i can rightfully say that there aren't a great number of really amazing australian films, in my personal opinion that is. i think i can count the ones i truly enjoyed on one hand. 

'candy' is wondrous.

the film stars the lovely & late heath ledger and beautiful, understated abbie cornish, and is a raw and passionate tale of lovers, their powerful relationship with each other, and more intensely, their dependency on heroin.

the film is divided into three parts, 'heaven', 'earth', and 'hell', and strongly reflects the states of ecstasy, self-destruction and despair. the script is poetic and the directing just magical. please watch it.

a brilliant, australian indie film.

We lived on sunlight and chocolate bars... It was the afternoon of extravagant delight... Danny, the Daredevil... Candy went missing... The day's last rays of sunshine cruise like sharks..."I wanna try it your way this time!" You came into my life really fast, and I liked it. We squelched in the mud of our joy. I was wet thighed with the surrender... Then there was a gap in things... And the whole earth tilted... This is the business. This is what we're after. With you inside me... Comes the hatch of death... "
